Audi Q7: A/C System Control and Regulation Components outside Vehicle Interior
A/C System Control and Regulation Information
Note
- If there is a malfunction in the A/C system, first check the
DTC memory for the Front A/C Display Control Head -E87- (and the
Rear A/C Display Control Head -E265-). Refer to Vehicle
Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function. If a
message appears to check the DTC memory of a different control
module, also check the DTC memory of this control module (for
example, the Vehicle Electrical System Control Module -J519-,
the Comfort System Central Control Module -J393-). Certain A/C
system components (for example, the A/C Compressor Regulator
Valve -N280-) are no longer activated directly by the Front A/C
Display Control Head -E87- or their measured values are no
longer evaluated directly by the Front A/C Display Control Head
-E87-.
- If no malfunction is displayed, check the affected measured
values of the Front A/C Display Control Head -E87- (and the Rear
A/C Display Control Head -E265-) and activate any potentially
problematic component using the "output diagnostic test mode"
function. Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided
Fault Finding" function.
- The "electrical test" function is not described in this
repair manual. Perform the electrical test using the "Guided
Fault Finding" function. This also contains information
regarding the functions to be tested. Refer to Vehicle
Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
- The temperature-dependent resistance values of the various
temperature sensors are recorded in tables, which can be
accessed using the "Guided Fault Finding" function. Refer to
Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
- The electrical test for the various actuators is described
in Guided Fault Finding. Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
- Repair work on refrigerant circuit. Refer to
→ Chapter "Refrigerant Circuit".
- Perform the following procedures after completing repairs:
- Check the DTC memory of the Front A/C Display Control Head
-E87- (and the Rear A/C Display Control Head -E265-) and erase
any malfunctions shown. Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in
the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
- Check the coding of the Front A/C Display Control Head -E87-
(and the Rear A/C Display Control Head -E265-). Refer to Vehicle
Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
- Check the adaptation of the Front A/C Display Control Head
-E87- (and the Rear A/C Display Control Head -E265-). Refer to
Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding"
function.
- Initiate the basic setting for the Front A/C Display Control
Head -E87- (and the Rear A/C Display Control Head -E265-). Refer
to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding"
function.
Note
For additional information about the components outside of
the vehicle interior. Refer to
→ Chapter "Components outside Vehicle Interior".

- Coolant Hoses, Disconnecting and Connecting at Connections
to Heater and A/C Unit Heater Core. Refer to
→ Chapter "Heater Core, Removing and Installing".
- Incorporation of the Heater and A/C Unit Heater Core in the
Engine Coolant Circuit. Refer to
→ Rep. Gr.19; Coolant System/Coolant; Connection Diagram -
Coolant Hoses.
- Depending on the vehicle date of manufacture, connecting
points may be installed in the refrigerant lines on certain
versions. Refer to the Parts Catalog. Similar to the connections
to various components, these connecting points may only be
loosened and opened when the refrigerant circuit is empty. Refer
to
→ Refrigerant R134a Servicing; Rep. Gr.87; A/C System, General
Information.
