Component Location Overview - Front Heater and A/C Unit Components, "Low" or "Mid" A/C System

  Note

Depending on vehicle equipment, there are different versions of the A/C system for the Audi Q7. Make sure to use the correct version and pay attention to the allocation of different components. Refer to → Chapter "A/C System Versions" and Parts Catalog.

  Note

  • Depending on the production date, there can be different versions of the levers and fasteners on the heater and A/C unit. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
  • Apply a small amount of grease to the cam plate guides, the shaft bearings, the toothed segment as well as to the pins on the door levers. Refer to Parts Catalog.

  Caution

Interchange of the wire connections to the temperature sensors or the connectors at the adjustment motors results in problems regarding the regulation of the A/C system.

  • Interchanged connectors at the adjustment motors or the temperature sensors are not identified as malfunctions by the Front A/C Display Control Head -E87-.
  • Prior to disconnecting connectors or removing electrical components, clearly label them in order to rule out confusion.

Component Location Overview - Front Heater and A/C Unit Components, "Low" or "Mid" A/C System

1 - Heater and A/C Unit with Evaporator ("Low" or "Mid" A/C System)

  • May only be removed when refrigerant circuit has been discharged; bring vehicle to a workshop that has the necessary tools and in which the work can be performed accordingly by qualified personnel. Refer to → Refrigerant R134a Servicing; Rep. Gr.87; A/C System, General Information.
  • Refer to → Chapter "Evaporator in Front Heater and A/C Unit, Removing and Installing"
  • Refer to → Chapter "Front Heater and A/C Unit Evaporator Housing, Removing and Installing"
  • Heater and a/c unit with evaporator, removing and installing. Refer to → Chapter "Heater and A/C Unit, Removing and Installing".

  • Refer to → Chapter "Evaporator in Front Heater and A/C Unit, Cleaning"

  Note

The evaporator can only be removed when the refrigerant circuit is empty, and the vehicle is in a workshop that has the required tools and in which the work can be performed accordingly by qualified personnel. Refer to → Refrigerant R134a Servicing; Rep. Gr.87; A/C System, General Information.

2 - Evaporator Vent Temperature Sensor -G263-

  • Refer to → Chapter "Evaporator Vent Temperature Sensor -G263-, Removing and Installing"

3 - Right Temperature Control Door Motor -V159-

  • Refer to → Chapter "Right Temperature Control Door Motor -V159-, Removing and Installing"

4 - Side Vent Motor -V300-

  • Refer to → Chapter "Right Side Vent Motor -V300-, Removing and Installing"

5 - Left Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G261-

  • Refer to → Chapter "Left Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G261-, Removing and Installing"
  • Check the Left Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G261-. Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

6 - Right Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G262-

  • Refer to → Chapter "Right Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G262-, Removing and Installing"
  • Check the Right Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G262-. Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

7 - Rear Air Distribution Door Motor -V427- / Rear Air Quantity Motor -V443-

  Note

There are different names for these motors depending on the version of the A/C system (Rear Air Distribution Door Motor -V427- for a "Low" or "Mid"A/C system and Rear Air Quantity Motor -V443- for a "Mix" or "High" A/C system) and have the same component location.

8 - Right Condensation Water Drain Connection (Passenger Side)

  • Refer to → Chapter "Condensation Water Drain, Removing and Installing"

  Note

This heater and A/C unit has two connections for the condensation water drain (one on the driver side and one on the front passenger side).

9 - Auxiliary Heater Control Module -J604- with Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-

  • The Auxiliary Air Heater Control Module -J604- with the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- is only installed in vehicles with a diesel engine. Refer to → Chapter "Electrical Auxiliary Heater, Testing".
  • If a parking heater installed as optional equipment is activated as an auxiliary heater in vehicles with a diesel engine, no Auxiliary Air Heater Control Module -J604- and thus no Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- are installed. Refer to → Chapter "Electrical Auxiliary Heater, Testing".
  • On vehicles without an Auxiliary Heater Control Module -J604- (with Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-), the opening in the heater and A/C unit is sealed with a cap. Refer to → Chapter "Auxiliary Heater Control Module -J604- (with Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-) Checking, Removing and Installing"
  • Check the function of the Auxiliary Air Heater Control Module -J604- and the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-. Refer to → Chapter "Electrical Auxiliary Heater, Testing".
  • Refer to → Chapter "Auxiliary Heater Control Module -J604- (with Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-) Checking, Removing and Installing"

10 - Connection for the Hose to the Air Duct for Glove Compartment Cooling

  • On vehicles without the optional equipment of "glove compartment cooling", the opening in the heater and A/C unit is sealed with a cap. Refer to → Chapter "Air Guide for Glove Compartment Cooling, Removing and Installing"
  • Glove compartment cooling air duct hose, checking, removing and installing. Refer to → Chapter "Air Guide for Glove Compartment Cooling, Removing and Installing".

11 - Fresh Air Blower -V2- with Fresh Air Blower Control Module -J126-

  • There are different versions. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
  • Check. Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function

12 - Defroster Door Motor -V107-

  • Refer to → Chapter "Defroster Door Motor -V107-, Removing and Installing"

  Note

  • On right-hand drive vehicles, the Defroster Door Motor -V107- is not on the left side, but rather on the right side of the heater and A/C unit. Refer to → Chapter "Defroster Door Motor -V107-, Removing and Installing".

14 - Left Temperature Control Door Motor -V158-

15 - Temperature Regulator Control Door Motor -V137-

16 - Heater Core for the Heater

17 - Left Condensation Water Drain Connection (Driver Side)

  Note

This heater and A/C unit has two connections for the condensation water drain (one on the driver side and one on the front passenger side).

18 - Grommet

  • For sealing the opening through the plenum chamber rear wall for the refrigerant lines

19 - Expansion Valve

  • May only be removed when refrigerant circuit has been discharged; bring vehicle to a workshop that has the necessary tools and in which the work can be performed accordingly by qualified personnel. Refer to → Refrigerant R134a Servicing; Rep. Gr.87; A/C System, General Information.
  • Refer to → Chapter "Refrigerant Lines, Disconnecting from Front Expansion Valve and Reconnecting".
  • Refer to → Chapter "Front Expansion Valve, Removing and Installing".

21 - Fresh Air Door Motor -V438-

22 - Recirculation Door Motor -V113-

  • Refer to → Chapter "Recirculation Door Motor -V113-, Removing and Installing"

23 - Dust and Pollen Filter

  • Different versions as a replacement part (with and without activated charcoal filter element). Refer to the Parts Catalog and → Chapter "Dust and Pollen Filter with Activated Charcoal Insert, Element Information"
  • Follow the replacement intervals. Refer to the Maintenance Tables.
  • Refer to → Chapter "Dust and Pollen Filter, Removing and Installing".

  Note

4 - Right Temperature Control Door Motor -V159-

6 - Left Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G261-

  • Check the Left Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G261-. Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

7 - Side Vent Motor -V300-

8 - Right Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G262-

  • Check the Right Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G262-. Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

9 - Rear Air Distribution Door Motor -V427- / Rear Air Quantity Motor -V443-

  Note

There are different names for these motors depending on the version of the A/C system (Rear Air Distribution Door Motor -V427- for a "Low" or "Mid"A/C system and Rear Air Quantity Motor -V443- for a "Mix" or "High" A/C system) and have the same component location.

10 - Right Footwell Door Motor -V109-

  • Refer to → Chapter "Right Footwell Door Motor -V109-, Removing and Installing"

11 - Auxiliary Heater Control Module -J604- with Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-

  • The Auxiliary Air Heater Control Module -J604- with the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- is only installed in vehicles with a diesel engine. Refer to → Chapter "Electrical Auxiliary Heater, Testing".
  • If a parking heater installed as optional equipment is activated as an auxiliary heater in vehicles with a diesel engine, No Auxiliary Air Heater Control Module -J604- and thus no Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- are installed. Refer to → Chapter "Electrical Auxiliary Heater, Testing".
  • On vehicles without an Auxiliary Heater Control Module -J604- (with Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-), the opening in the heater and A/C unit is sealed with a cap. Refer to → Chapter "Auxiliary Heater Control Module -J604- (with Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-) Checking, Removing and Installing"
  • Check the function of the Auxiliary Air Heater Control Module -J604- and the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-. Refer to → Chapter "Electrical Auxiliary Heater, Testing".
